Photoblogging

Last week the Web blogs class decided to spend half the lesson going around the college taking pictures of anything college related, but we were not allowed to take pictures of the people in the college, so a few of us were split into different groups because there want enough cameras for everyone....there was about 5 different groups and here and some of my favorite pictures out of the lot.

Hardware Lab

Last week in the Hardware lab we opened up the computers and found out the different parts of the computer.

We found the-

-Motherboard

-RAM

-Hard Drive

-Floppy Drive

-CD-Drive

-Fan

We also learned how to set your hard drive as a Master or Slave which is something i didnt really know how to do before. I knew alot of this stuff before anyway because i used to open up my old computer to replace parts and to fix somethings a few times, but atleast now i have more of an understanding about it now.

An Interview with Guy Fawkes

My task was to interview a historical figuire so i chose to interview the infamous Guy Fawkes. He was known for attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliment which would displace the prostestants rule buy killing King James I of England and the entire Protestant aristocracy, but his attempt was well known and we celebrate the 5th of November as Guy Fawkes night.

So Mr. Fawkes, When is your birthday?

Guy Fawkes: on 13th April 1570 in Stonegate, York.

Any brothers or sisters?

Guy Fawkes: My older sister Anne, was born on 3rd October 1568 who died seven weeks later. Apart from that i have two younger sisters , Anne (born 12th October 1572) and Elizabeth (born 27th May1575).

Ah ok, So were you part of a group when you decided to try and blow up Parliment?

Guy Fawkes: I was apart of a group called Roman Catholic Recusants who wanted to get rid of the protestants rule.

What did you do before you decided to blow up parlement?

Guy Fawkes: In 1592, i sold my dads house that i inherited. In 1593, i was a footman for the 2nd Viscount Montague, I enlisted in the army of Archduke Albert of Austria in the Netherlands and fought with the armies of Catholic Spain against the Protestant United Provinces in the Dutch Revolt.

So is that how you learned about explosives?

Guy Fawkes: Yes, thats why i chosen by the group and i was placed in charge of executing the plot because of my military and explosives experience.

Well thats all from Guy Fawkes now thank you for your time.

There are many books that explain the story of Guy Fawkes attempt of blowing up parlement and V for Vandetta is sort of like a tribute to Guy Fawkes but in modern day times, they all have good meaning to them so its worht watching or reading.

Enchanted Forest

Your Pirate Ship crashes into the side of some rocks, you climb off the boat to find yourself lost in the darkness of the forest. You walk down the creepy path and hear little screeches or evil.
You slowly draw out your sword that the pirate of the ship gave you....You come to a massive gate just standing there in the middle of the dark forest but you turn round and come face to face with the Evil Circus Monkeys, All four of them surround you as you stand ready. The tall gate suddenly opens.

Do you, Run from the Evil Circus Monkeys through the tall gate?

or

Do you, Stay and fight the Evil Circus Monkeys with your sword from the Pirate?

Saw IV Review

Review!
Saw IV
Director-Darren Lynn Bousman
Genre-Crime/Horror/Thriller
Released-26th October 2007
Went to see SAW IV the day of its release, the movie in my opinion was pretty good, alot of stuff was shown in a short space of time, if the movie was given alot more suspence then it would be possibly a 3 hour long + movie. I dont want to spoil the movie for those who have not seen it yet but there was alot of stuff from all other SAW movies thrown into the mix and it just explains alot of things about the past and how Jigsaws work got started. I had a prediction about the movie and i was wrong about it but its important to keep following the movie all the way through and think fast about who you see even though there is flashes of the past, so no toilet breaks through the movie or else you will miss everything, i will be buying this movie again when its released and keep building my collection of SAW movies, now all there is to do is wait for SAW V to be released, so thats another year...but as Jigsaw said..."You think it is over when it has only just began"

Who am i?

This is...Michael Pitt
I am Michael Pitt, Born in Aberdeen Scotland on 17th of July 1989. I am doing a NC Computing Course in Aberdeen College, It is going pretty well so far, the work is easy enough to follow along with the people in the class. A bit crazy but who isnt nowadays. I chose this course because this was the first course i thought about doing for a while next to do music and i decided to do this instead of music just because i havent been taught much about music in secondary school. My hopes and fears for the next coming years are...well i guess we just have to wait and find out what is behind the corner before we say anything.
My long term goals in life is to be just happy with what i am doing and not feel like i'm struggling with life, make it laid back and easy. I'm not too bothered if i'm stuck in Aberdeen for the rest of my life aslong as i can be happy. For the short time goals is basicly just keep my music/guitar work going and not giving up, not saying i'm going to be a big rockstar! aslong as i can have fun with music thats all that matters and i have my mates who i have fun with when playing music.
Well we've established that one of my hobbies is guitar, I own a ESP F-50 guitar hopefully upgrading to a F-250 oncei have the cash, also own an Ibanez EX which i recently bought but needs to be repaired (thats gonna cost me!!!!!)
I'm also a big fan of movies, i have a big collection at home.Anything from Stand up comedy to horrors are brilliant. zombie movies are amazing aswell as movies like Pulp Fiction, Blade, Hot Fuzz and so on.
I do have other interests like Chinese/Japanese art, i have a few samauri swords at home which people think is just weird but i think it just looks cool sitting there on the table at home.

Collaborative Writing

Before

As I stood infront of the mirror wearing my dark clothes and holding my gun...I stopped to think...Is this really what I want to do?
Will doing this solve everything?
Does justice need to be served?
...
Too many questions but no answers, i stood there for a good 5 minutes staring a hole right through myself. I start to get withdrawl symptoms from the drugs, i take out a packet of cigarettes...none left...damn...
My hands begin to shake as i stare at myself in the mirror for the last time before i throw the gun at the mirror as it smashes into millions of pieces i fall down to my knees and cry...This dissastifying feeling is not what i wanted to have...i cannot let myself break down....too little too late...

Guitar Lesson!

Simple lesson of the CAGED system

This is a short and simple lesson for beginners on guitar, You may start and look at the "Guitar books for beginners" and it will show you countless lessons on chords when you just want to skip that stuff and ROCK!!

Easy way to skip the annoying chords you feel obliged to learn at the start is simple, You learn 5 chords. C-A-G-E-D, Now these shapes have a distinct shape in them and that if your barre the chord up to the next fret you get a new chord sound, and you can do it with each Chord and you will be able to play alot of different sounds and through time it will become 2nd nature to you.

Barring a chord is simple, all you do is, the fingers that you are using to get your chord...move it up 1 fret and the strings that werent being held down ie. Open strings, place your index finger across the next fret covering all the strings.

The O means its an open string. Open strings are strings not being played, so if you need to barre them, place your index finger across each string on the 1st fret. If you continue moving your fingers up 1 fret at a time you get a new chord sound.
The X's mean you do not play that string

Here are a the diagrams for each chord in the CAGED system.

Horror Classics

SAW IV

There are so many great horror sequals in the the film industry. Films such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday 13th, Halloween, Hellraiser and so on. These films now are known as classic horror sets. The next horror set that i think will be known as a classic in 20 years time is the SAW movies.

With the release of Saw 4 coming to cinemas on October 26th its surely a questionable idea. Not many people thought they could make more SAW films after the 2nd one but then 3 came out and now 4. But wait for it.......yes its already been comfirmed that SAW 5 is in the works and set for a release date of possibly October 2008 or 2009, also...They have signed a deal to make a SAW 6 aswell!!

Are they taking this a bit too far?? maybe so but people will still go see these movies just to see what the whole story is about. 2 weeks on friday i will check out Saw 4 in the cinema and if it is good...then come on SAW 5!!!! but if it is bad then hmmm this could be a big money loss.

Either way the SAW collection will be known in 20 years time as a great horror collection and a classic for its time.

Are horror movies the greatest works of the film industry?

All for laughs

Comedy
Comedy plays a major part in our lives, it makes us laugh everytime and realise how silly some things in the world can be including celebrities, politics, anything in the world that is in our daily lives these comedians notice them and exploit them in the funniest possible way.
Comedians such as Lee Evans, Robin Williams(the actor not singer folks!), Chris Rock, Bill Bailey, Peter Kay, Martin Lawrence, and so on, These are some of the biggest comedians going today but we all still enjoy classic comedians like Billy Connely.
Comedy can be delivered in many forms, either in a "attempted" acting for example Lee Evans when he provides acting to add more effect to his jokes. Here is a video displaying that technique:

Another way of delivering comedy can be in a musical form which the "wizard of comedy" Bill Bailey, here is a video demonstrating his "skills":

The most important thing in comedy is how you deliver a joke or a fact of life, The way you deliver it is done extremely well by Chris Rock, impersonating people and making fun of them doing really stupid things like Janet Jackson at the SuperBowl. Heres a video of him in action:

Watching the Radio

Radio 1

Radio 1 has been one of the longest running radio station of all time! From broadcasting from the early 1900's radio one has had alot of controversy surrounding it. Through the "pirate broadcasting" age which was illegal broadcasting from boats in the sea which Tony Blackburn was a part of during that time before they were able to publicly do radio shows legally which was also due to the impact of the 60's era which changed the world musically and politically. That was the dawn of the new era and we have learned so much from then, Radio 1 today still provides us with the most upto date popular music from hosts such as Chris Moyles and Jo Whiley but they claim that there name wont be put down in some sort of "hall of fame" because Radio 1 will go on for a long time after there dead and gone.

Personally i'm not much of a radio person but i have respect for peopel who enjoy listening to the radio mainly at work or in school because we all need that background noise that keeps us up to date with the world even if we seem to busy to realise what is going on.

Radio 1 provides us with the most upto date news and music and keeps us entertained.

March of the Drums

Drum Solos
Now, i'm not a drummer but i have stumbled across a few amazing drumming videos and i must say that drums is really exciting when you have a really complex beat but it takes great skill to create something so crazy as some of the videos i will post up here.
These videos just show how the guy who is hidden behind a big drum set, this is how they make themselves heard.
Alot of drum solos are either fast and require alot of stamina to play, like Joey Jordison from Slipknot, or you have bands that give a little tribal sound, like the drummers from GodSmack or Sepultura/Soulfly or anything you can imagine!
I'll show you 3 drumming videos which have actually made me want to buy a drum kit.......but i just dont have enough room.

First, GodSmacks drummer and vocalist both on drum kits performing a 7 minute drum battle.

Secondly, a drummer from one of my favorite bands and also a well known metal musician, Joey Jordison performing a Drum solo, taken from the bands Disasterpieces DVD.

Next, just something i came across one day which i just think is really funny but also amazing! This is how you sell a product........watch and see.

Favorite Album

MACHINE HEAD

On March 27, 2007 Machine Head released its 6th Studio album "The Blackening" is possibly one of the greatest Metal albums of all time, produced by the bands very own Frontman Robb Flynn. With songs lasting nearly 10 minutes each, crazy dueling guitar solo's, insane machine gun like drumming and ripping vocals, and the most original heaviest riffs since the 80's thrash metal scene. With the Current music scene being mostly interested in people singing about their relationship break ups and really dull stuff in life Machine Head came out with an album that shouts out the problems with the World, nothing but pure aggression from this album.

With only 8 songs on the album they cemented there place in the world as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. I bought this album when it came out and the opening 10 minute track just blew me away and i would recommend this album to anyone who wants to get out some aggression when they hear music.
The albums single, Aesthetics of Hate which is a fight against the man who made fun of Dimebag Darrels career as a metal guitarist. Machine Head clearly sent there message to that man and showed how good there guitar skills are.

This album has won awards such as Metal Hammers:Best Album, Kerrang: Best Album and the band also won Kerrang:Hard Rock Hero and Metal Hammers:Golden God Awards.

I saw Machine Head back in June in Glasgow being supported by Lamb of God and Chimaira, and that was a really life changing experience, the whole building was shaking, the circle pit during the bands classic track "Davidian" was huge!!!! and i will be going to the Black Crusade in November to see them again.

Here is the single from "The Blackening" Aesthetics of Hate

Class Concert

Bob Marley-Reggae Legend

After watching two of Bob Marley's live performances, "Get up Stand up" and "No Woman No Cry", Bob Marley shows why he was known as a God to the music world, creating his own way of expressing his feelings through his nations music style, Reggae. He stands infront of the crowd and closes his eyes whilst he sings...is this because he is scared at looking at the crowd...or is it because when he closes his eyes it takes him to a different place when he hears his own lyrics and music being played.
The crowd responds well to his concert joining in with singing and making the show seem like a "once in a lifetime" moment
